MEET THE MAUGERS CONTRACTING TEAM

GENERAL MANAGER

HAYDEN GREENE

Hayden Greene is the Contracts Manager with over 15 years experience in the Civil Construction industry. He has a proven track record of managing complex civil projects and leading cross – functional teams to deliver projects on-time and within budget. Hayden has been an employee at Maugers Contracting since 2005, with a small break in that time to progress in the drainage and water sector for another company.

Hayden then returned and progressed to this position to run the company alongside Lea Pomeroy to help steer a successful multi-generation company into the next stage of growth and success.

Hayden takes care of calculating cost estimates, budgets and schedules, explaining contracts and technical information to employees and ensuring the project meets deadlines within budgets, while also ensuring the safety of workers and quality of workmanship.

Hayden’s strong leadership skills combined with his hard-earned expertise in the industry have made him an asset to the day to day running of Maugers Contracting. He is known for his ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors and team members and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Hayden’s vision for the future of Maugers Contracting is to continue being a leading construction company in the Canterbury area whilst keeping the values of being a family business that has been successful for over 50 years.

OPERATIONS MANAGER

KIERAN STOOP

Over the 13 years that Kieran Stoop has worked with Maugers Contracting, he has learned solid values and gained invaluable experience moving up through our ranks. Starting out in 2011 as a labourer, Kieran’s excellent workmanship has seen him quickly progress onto our earthworks division, operating a range of machinery, and becoming one of our most reliable and trusted supervisors.

With a history of successfully leading residential and industrial land developments, taking on the role of operations manager was a natural step forward for Kieran, allowing him to fully explore his passion regarding company growth, and building internal and external key relationships within the business.

As a grader operator for five years, Kieran has particular expertise in earthmoving and has used this hands on experience to help him effectively execute his projects. This invaluable experience will no doubt be beneficial to him going forward as an operations manager.

With integral skills such as problem solving and emotional intelligence, Kieran knows how to tackle a problem head on and successfully deliver a presentation to his team as to how to solve challenges that arise. With an appetite for high standards, Kieran’s results are high-quality and meticulously planned out.

HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER

LANA THOMAS

Lana embarked on her professional journey at Maugers Contracting in 2006. After dedicating six years to the company, Lana decided to explore opportunities in Health and Safety with other organisations. Now, she has returned to Maugers Contracting to oversee the Health and Safety Sector, bringing her wealth of experience and expertise. While working in the Civil Industry, Lana recognised the potential for a rewarding career transition from Office Manager to Health & Safety professional. In 2012, she made the bold move to the construction sector, focusing on Health & Safety.

Throughout her tenure, Lana has diligently acquired a comprehensive knowledge of the construction and civil industries. She has actively participated in various training courses to expand her expertise, with the intention of implementing best practices on worksites.

Lana derives immense satisfaction from collaborating with workers, assisting them in enhancing their knowledge and fostering robust documentation for health and safety purposes. Over the years, Lana has actively contributed her skills to civil sites, residential projects, and large commercial undertakings across the Canterbury region.

As a member of the New Zealand Institute of Safety Management, Lana combines her practical experience, extensive knowledge, and passion for working with people to cultivate a safer working environment and promote a culture of well-being.

FINANCE MANAGER

LEAH RATAHI

Leah started as our receptionist in 2020, since then she has worn many other hats at Maugers Contracting and has moved up the ranks to our Financial manager Leah has shown many skills that have helped her gain her role as a financial manager in such a short time. This was why she was a great fit for this role from her excellent data entry skills, as well as adapting to the challenges of managing several workloads. She is responsible for the administration of our fleet accounts payable /receivable end of month processes preparing weekly and monthly payments. Leah shows leadership honesty integrity and loyalty all these qualities reflect Maugers Contracting. Leah has had previous experience as a supervisor managing numerous staff successfully. Leah, like Maugers, is always looking for ways to improve and create great relationships with Clients and staff members.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER / HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER

BRITTANY

After a very long stint overseas Brittany made her way back to Christchurch starting at Maugers Contracting the following week. Over many years Brittany started at the bottom learning the ropes and absorbing all information to understand the business and she quickly learnt that her strengths are being a leader and took on the role of Human Resource Manager and handling the daily operations of the business alongside Hayden Greene. As a shareholder Brittany has input into the significant strategic and operational decisions and a huge desire to succeed within today’s economic challenges. Brittany is a proven leader having worked and learnt under strong mentors and alongside the Board feels comfortable making decisions to better the company.

With Brittany’s common-sense perspective and her sensible way of approaching conflict she is an important part of the continued growth at Mauger Contracting.

ENGINEERING TEAM

GLEN O'BRIEN & MYLES POU

Glen O’Brien and Myles Pou make up our skilled engineering team, specialising in Heavy Transport and Machinery Engineering.Their expertise extends across the entire engineering process, from research and design to development, manufacturing, and installation of mechanical components and systems. The team also excels in modifying, repairing, and maintaining our extensive fleet of machinery.

Glen and Myles produce and implement designs, meticulously testing, evaluating, and modifying products to ensure optimal performance. They are also proficient in estimation; accurately budgeting and scoping projects to meet the unique needs of each.

Working closely with our Design Engineers, the Engineering Team ensures a seamless collaboration, resulting in the perfect finished product. Their welding skills further enhance their versatility and contribution to our projects.

Beyond their technical expertise, Glen and Myles are instrumental in keeping our equipment operational. They coordinate maintenance and service repairs, diligently following manufacturers’ instructions and established procedures, ensuring our machinery functions at its best.
